As Ireland brace themselves for the ICC Men's T20 WC Qualifier next month, they have named quite a dynamic 15-man squad for the T20I tri-series that involves Scotland and Netherlands. While Jacob Mulder returns to the international fold, uncapped Harry Tector and David Delany get called up to the squad that will be led by Gary Wilson.

"There were a number of players really unfortunate to miss out on this squad, which goes to show the quality and depth of players we are developing in this format of the game in Ireland. It's certainly a talented and dynamic team, and one which provides Gary Wilson [Ireland T20I captain] with plenty of options as he heads into an important few weeks," said Andrew White, chairman of Ireland's national men's selectors on Thursday (September 12).

"It is also a squad that contains a stronger fielding unit than we've potentially had in the past. You have a lot of three-dimensional cricketers in there, which is important in the modern game."

Legspinner Mulder last played a T20I for Ireland in 2017 against Afghanistan in India and will return after over a two-year hiatus. "It was great to see the likes of Harry Tector confirm his obvious talent and demonstrate that he has the game to perform at this level, while we also welcome Jacob Mulder back into the international fold. Both he and Gareth Delany offer leg-spinning options which will be important as we look forward - both Jacob and Gareth have performed well this season and are deserving of their selection.

"We look forward to giving David Delany an opportunity at international level - he has the raw talent, and offers us something different in terms of his pace - he's obviously been on our radar for a little while now and so we're pleased he will get a chance next week."

Ireland completed a five-day training camp coming into the series where 25 of the best players from the country were brought together, from which 15 of the best were picked for the series.

Squad: Gary Wilson (c), Mark Adair, Andrew Balbirnie, David Delany, Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Shane Getkate, Jacob Mulder, Kevin O'Brien, Boyd Rankin, Paul Stirling, Harry Tector, Stuart Thompson, Lorcan Tucker, Craig Young.
