Pakistan eye first Test win in Australia since 1995

Pakistan have named an unchanged squad for the three-match Test series against Australia next month. Sharjeel Khan and Mohammad Rizwan, who were Pakistan's only inclusions for the Test series against New Zealand, retained their place.

With Misbah-ul-Haq unavailable, Rizwan was handed his debut in the ongoing second Test, but was dismissed for a first-ball duck in the first innings. Sharjeel did not play a game on the tour.

Kamran Akmal, the leading run-scorer in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, and Mohammad Hafeez were considered but the selection panel led by Inzamam-ul-Haq opted to stick with a young squad.

Pakistan played both Tests in New Zealand with three fast bowlers and one spinner in Yasir Shah. With pitches in Australia not conducive to spin bowling, Pakistan were satisfied with allrounder Mohammad Rizwan as the back-up spin option.

The series against Australia begins with a day-night Test in Brisbane on December 15.

Pakistan squad: Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), Azhar Ali, Sami Aslam, Sharjeel Khan, Younis Khan, Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Mohammad Rizwan, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Rahat Ali, Sohail Khan, Imran Khan
    ==========
Australia's revamped 12-man Test squad that won against South Africa in Adelaide has been retained for the first Test against Pakistan at the Gabba.

The selectors had made sweeping changes after Australia's crushing defeat in Hobart, where South Africa secured the series, and only six of the XI from that Test retained their places for the day-night Test in Adelaide. Matt Renshaw, Peter Handscomb and Nic Maddinson all made their debuts in Adelaide, where Australia picked up a consolation victory.

The Gabba Test is also a day-night affair, and given Australia's success in Adelaide and the desire for stability, there is every chance they will take an unchanged XI into a Test for the first time in more than a year. The only possible alteration would be if Adelaide 12th man Chadd Sayers came into contention, and he did his chances no harm by taking eight wickets in the Sheffield Shield this week.

"We were very pleased with how the team came together in Adelaide after some significant changes following the Tests in Perth and Hobart," the interim selection chairman Trevor Hohns said. "This is a young group with a lot of promise and we believe all deserve their opportunity again in this upcoming Test."

Of Australia's debutants from the previous match, Maddinson in particular will be keen to prove his Test worth at the Gabba, having fallen for a 12-ball duck in his only innings of the Adelaide Test. Maddinson bounced back from that disappointment with 80 in the first innings for New South Wales this week in their Shield game against South Australia.

The other Adelaide debutants, Handscomb and Renshaw, both enjoyed longer stays at the crease in their first appearance for Australia. Handscomb scored a half-century in the first innings and then hit the winning runs in the second, while Renshaw occupied the crease for 137 balls in Australia's chase to help them secure victory.

Shaun Marsh was not considered as he continues rehabilitation after a broken finger suffered against South Africa in Perth. "Shaun has yet to resume batting and will have a follow-up x-ray this week that will be reviewed by a specialist," the CA head of sports science Alex Kountouris said. "This will determine when he can resume cricket training."

Squad David Warner, Matt Renshaw, Usman Khawaja, Steven Smith (capt), Peter Handscomb, Nic Maddinson, Matthew Wade (wk), Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Jackson Bird, Chadd Sayers.

Second Melbourne test, after making 443 for 9 declared by Pakistan, rains spoiled most of day 2 and day 3
Azhar Ali hits unbeaten 205.Australia hammer 624 for 8 declared with marathon 165* from Smith.97 from Khawaja and 144 by warner.

Pakistan has to bats only 4 hours to draw test but unfortunately they were bowled out before close.163 all out lost by an innings and 18 runs.Besides in 2016 Pakistan also lost 5 test in ROW in 1999/00.

Mitchell Starc. Was hero on day 5, who hits 84 and later on took 4 wickets.

Warner becomes the 5th batsman all time and the first in 40 years to score 100 before lunch in the first innings of a Test.

Misbah managed 76 runs in 6 innings (at 12.6/innings) in his swansong tour of Aus. Hope people put this in perspective. The guy to me is one of the genuine greats of the game, and yet age has really caught up with him. Of course he'll quit, but people need to put this in perspective to understand the difference between greats, and all time greats. Younis to me is an all-time great, even though he has struggled in some parts of the world and doesn't average 40+ in all nations (away Tests). I think Younis is good enough for another year or two. Great to see a Pak Test batsman finally cross the 10000 run mark.

He scored 38 in 98 ball today but dismissed to repeat six again to be dismissed vs unknown O'Keefe even younus only 23 shorts of 10000 also throw his wicket.M.O.Series should given to Azhar Ali but Smith for his 441 given M.O.Series .Azhar also hits over 400 in 3 test.

Hazelwood did great with 32 wickets in present summer, probably vs NZ and Pak combined series.congratulations

Pakistan will slips further from number 4 after 3/0 today

Asad Shafiq is the other huge revelation for Pak (not that he's gone unnoticed so far). Coming in at #7 in the line up, he now has 9 Test hundreds, the most for any batsman coming in at that position in the history of the game (one more than Sobers at 8 Test hundreds).
Yasir Shah has been a huge disappointment, not only with his pathetic bowling, where he really was terrible, but worse the way he threw his wicket away with that lacklustre run out in the first Test with Pak having lost Shafiq on 137 while 40 runs short. Really pathetic performance.
Misbah is going to retire for sure. Younis might hang around for another series till he gets to 10000 (he's 23 runs short) as Mayank pointed out.

even yesterday during last test, both Y and M throw their wicket to spinner whom they can play easily in the past.

yes wicket keeper batsman LESLY AMES hits 123 between session [ 120 minutes] which is greater than LARA, because both occasion LARA HITS IN 150 MINUTES SESSION.

Warner become 4th player who hits on day one before lunch, one Pakistani and 3 others are australians
