    Fixture #3: Cabinet96 v. U2

You will be selecting from the players you expect to play in the first test between Australia and South Africa. Please pm everyone in Group B with 8 bids, within the next 4 days. The earlier both of you submit the better, so that subsequent rounds of bidding can take place sooner. I say everyone in Group B because, if for some reason I'm not able to run the silent auction, someone else can do so in that time.

If you wish to work out a mutual deadline so that neither participant gains an unfair advantage by waiting til the last minute, that'd be great.

When both sets of bids have been submitted, I will post them on this thread. Feel free to use this thread to communicate and figure out when's the earliest each of you can submit a bid.

Here are the squads for the two teams:
    Australia
    Michael Clarke
    Shane Watson
    Ed Cowan
    David Warner
    Ben Hilfenhaus
    Michael Hussey
    Nathan Lyon
    James Pattinson
    Ricky Ponting
    Peter Siddle
    Mitchell Starc
    Matthew Wade

    South Africa
    Graeme Smith
    Hashim Amla
    AB De Villiers
    JP Duminy
    Imran Tahir
    Faf Du Plessis
    Jacques Kallis
    Rory Kleinveldt
    Morne Morkel
    Alviro Petersen
    Robin Peterson
    Vernon Philander
    Dale Steyn
    Jacques Rudolph
    Thami Tsolekile

I am ready to do live auctions too. Silent will need a bit of planning. Or maybe we should try out draft picks.

    Cabi, what do you want?

Silent auctions just require making concurrent bids...and since you don't know the other's bids, it's in your best interest to bid your true valuation

I personally think that Draft Picks are better way to go, u2 gets one turn and then Cabi and it goes on like this.

Would be a fair method TBH.

Live auctions will require coordinating a time to auction with your opponent. And even then, you do realize, you'll still have to make 8 bids at once. Otherwise you have to worry about the order in which players can be bid for

If U2 and Cabi agree to a draft, that's cool. The only thing is that draft order really matter. I think the snake format is the fairest for drafts, but even then, is it better to have picks #1 and #4, or picks #2 and #3. Hard to say

Probably depends from match-to-match and the quality of players available

Silent auctions are the best and most efficient way to to this. Will be done fast and easy and will require a lot of skill, manipulation and smart thinking.

I'm all for drafts here. The order wont really matter. Cabi can go first if he wants to.

I prefer live auctions even more. So, if you're willing, let me know the time(hopefully I'll be available).

I don't think it's wise to try and set a time for live auctions among the three of us...three very different time zones makes it hard to coordinate. You should try to figure out a time with Cabi. How would you organize the live auctions?

Since this fantasy league is a 1v1 format, I'm not all too particular on the method by which players are selected, as long as it's mutually agreed upon

We won't need a moderator TBH.

2 participants can settle the stuff, provided both can zero in on a convenient time.

and yes, my message about time was to cabi alone.

oh, my bad. Yeah, you guys are mature enough to not need a moderator...I would hope :P

If you check the scoring system, you should infer that on average, 5 batsmen and 3 bowlers is the ideal composition. You want to pick as few bowlers as you can while still achieving the bowling quota. If you're confident about the 2 bowlers you have, than go for it. Not so sure about the 3 you've chosen, pick a 4th bowler or an all-rounder

Well you dont need to mention player role now. Just pick the players, categorizing can be done after the match.
