So he's currently in a peak form.

I really don't see how you can call a 9 wicket win "worrying", especially as the people who've been struggling the most over the winter actually did the best, I.e. Strauss, Bell, Pietersen.

Do you remember how we played against Sri Lanka last year? Our bowling lacked penetration and cutting edge, resulting in us only winning 1 of the 3 tests. The next series is history...

The summer of 09/10 wasn't the reason you lost the Ashes, in fact you carried that summer form to the World T20 where you got to the final. The thing that ****ed you up before the Ashes was losing the test in England against Pakistan, losing to India when you were in positions to win and losing the ODI's against Sri Lanka. You panicked as shown by the fact that you picked 17 players for the first test squad. You didn't know who your best team was, you made major changes at the last minute that didn't work. Without trying to sound ****y, do you really think England will do the same before the SA series?

No of course they won't, but the point is the evidence was there in the summer of 09/10. We weren't turning out dominant performances because we needed to improve, however with the players we kept insisting on picking, we weren't improving at all and we left no ROOM for improvement either.

The only reason both games haven't been dominate is because we batted poorly on the 3rd day of both tests. This was due to good bowling and recklessness. Obviously it would have been nice to display the ruthlessness we did against India and Australia but I think if any thing those problems would have come from been mental and out of sloppiness. Something I would hope we wouldn't display in a more high profile series.

^ Nonsense. Nothing more than an aberration. Cook will pummel SA into submission...rest assured. I can't wait for the next Ashes when I see the Aussies get a drubbing.

Yes Cook will pummel those slip fielders. Their hands will be so sore after all the times he'll poke outside off stump and send the ball flying in their direction. I really feel sorry for them. Good thing Boucher can wear gloves.

Talking about Eng v Aus in a Eng v WI Thread... Bravo!

    Btw, Ginger Johnny

And Swann? Panesar can bowl better than him... Bring Finn in place of Ginger Johnny.

    Hey all.

I've moved the posts regarding England v South Africa to the appropriate thread, "Official road to the Basil D'Oliveira trophy".

    Please continue the discussion there.
