Best Test Innings You've Ever Seen

What are the best test inning you've ever seen? (not necessarily live at the ground, just on highlights on the telly or internet etc..)

I'll start off, in order (No I'm not expecting you to do such a long list):

    1. Michael Clarke 151 v South Africa at Cape Town, 2011
    2. Mahela Jayawardene 180 v England at Galle, 2012
    3. Jonathan Trott 184 v Pakistan at Lords, 2010
    4. David Warner 123 v New Zealand at Hobart 2011
    5. Graeme Smith 158 v England at Edgbaston, 2008
    6. JP Duminey 168 v Australia at Melbourne, 2008
    7. Rahul Dravid 146* v England at the Oval, 2011
    8. Kevin Pietersen 201* v India at Lords, 2011
    9. Sachin Tendulkar v South Africa at Cape Town, 2011
    10. Stuart Broad 169 v Pakistan at Lords, 2011
    11. Ricky Ponting 161 v England at Old Trafford, 2005
    12. Ian Bell 154 v India at Trent Bridge 2011
    13. Kevin Pietersen 151 v Sri Lanka at Colombo, 2012
    14. Michael Clarke 329 v India at Sydney
    15. Virender Sehwag v South Africa at Chennai, 2008
    16. Kevin Pietersen 158 v Australia at the Oval, 2005
    17. AB de Villiers 105* v Australia at Johannesburg, 2009
    18. Matt Prior 102* v India at Lords, 2011
    19. Adam Gilchrist 102* v England at Perth, 2006
    20. Michael Clarke 136 v England at Lords, 2009
    21. Ian Bell 74 v South Africa at Cape Town, 2010
    22. Alastair Cook, 235 v Australia at Brisbane
    23. Mike Hussey 116 v England at Perth, 2010

Let me know if you think I've missed any obvious ones. Also bare in mind about 70% of the tests I've seen have involved England, and I hadn't watched a test between two other countries before 2008, and I've never seen a test between two Asian teams in the SC.

Interesting lack of ones in Ashes series, considering I've seen 20 Ashes tests.

    Worst Innings I've ever seen.

    1. Virender Sehwag 0 (1) v England at Edgbaston, 2011
    2. Virender Sehwag 0 (1) v England at Edgbaston, 2011

How is Flopawardene's there? Didn't he get dropped 4 times?

Clarke's ton in Cape town is right up there.

Kim Hughes made an unbeaten hundred on a god-awful pitch against the Windies attack at its height. Rob's uploaded it to Youtube so that's right up there too.

Can't really be bothered making a big list. I would include stuff like Trott's ton @ Lord's against Pak, if I didn't have suspicions that the Pakis were just bowling filth because they were match fixing.

    It was 7/102 wasn't it?

And yeah but from then they just bowled pies. I remember, I was watching and facepalming every time they bowled another pie.

According to my nostalgia, no pies were bowled.

Seriously though I'll talk about it in more detail tomorrow, got to sleep.

If you're talking about whole innings I've "seen", it's a toss up between these three:

    1. SRT 136 vs Pak, Chennai 1998-1999.
    2. SRT 117* vs Eng, Manchester, 1990.
    3. SRT 116 vs Aus, Melbourne, 1999-2000.

I'm going to include only those innings which I've had the privilege of watching live( and not the ones which were played when I wasn't around on this planet and have only seen some highlights of, in youtube videos). These innings are not in any specific order-

    Laxman's 281 v Aus, Kolkata 2001
Dravid's 180 in the same match
Azhar Mahmood 132 v SA, Durban 1997/98 ( An odd batsman for a list such as this but this was a bloody good knock)
    Gilly's 149* v Pak, Hobart 1999/00
    Sachin's 136 v Pak, Chennai 1999
    Laxman's 167 v Aus, Sydney 1999/00
    Brian Lara 153* v Aus, Barbados 1999
    Dravid 148, Sachin 193, Ganguly 128 v/s Eng, Headingley 2002
Steve Waugh's last over hundred against England, Sydney 2002/03
    Graeme Smith's 277 v Eng, Birmingham 2003
    Chanderpaul's 100 off 69 balls v Aus, Guyana 2003
    Dravid 233 and 72* v Aus, Adelaide 2003/04
    Sachin 241* v Aus, Sydney 2003/04
    Ponting 257 v Ind, Melbourne 2003/04
Steve Waugh 80 in his last test innings, v/s India-Sydney 03/04
    Martyn 104 v Ind, chennai 2004
    Flintoff 73 v Aus, Birmingham 2005
KP's century at The Oval, Ashes 2005
    Lara 176 v SA, B'dos 2005
    Gilchrist v Eng, WACA 2006/07
    Sehwag's double-ton v SL, Galle 2008
    Amla's twin centuries v India 2010
    Sachin @ Capetown 2010/11
    Laxman 96- Durban 2010/11
Almost all of Dravid's single-handed knocks last English summer
    Clarke's 151, Capetown 11/12

And last but not the least, TINO'S 95 against England in the last test LOL

Sehwag's 50 at Melbourne in the boxing day test last year.

Just kidding. That's one of the worst I've ever seen.

^ I think the 50 was worse because it's easy to get out early (especially if you're as bad as Sehwag). It was worse because he kept playing and missing over and over and over and got dropped twice. Once on 11, once on 50-odd, then got bowled. What a **** performance.

Second innings at Edbaston was very bad though. He was on a king pair, had just seen Alastair Cook get 294 in 12 hours, and his team needed him to bat long so that they could save the game. He got a back of length delivery outside off stump and slashed at it. Worst shot in test history.

    I'd go:

    1. Second innings at Edgbaston
    2. 50 against Australia at Melbourne
    3. First innings at Edgbaston
Playing left arm spin better than the national side, since the age of 12

Or how about all of Ponting's match-winning test centuries in India ? My word, what a brilliant batsman he was and still is, and that brilliance got just 10x better when he batted in India with that superb batting average of 26.48. And guess what, he just creamed the spinners time and again

Hahahaha that's ironic. A few hours back I was talking to Rafa, and he said "Some moronic Indian fan will post 'how many match-winning tons has Ponting scored in India?'"

So you're a moronic Indian fan according to rafa.

I can do with being a moronic fan as long as it rightfully proves that Flopdulkar > Flopting.

However as a matter of fact, TINO is better than both of them.

Two responses you'll get from most (dumb) Indian fans:
1.) Mahanty's response (Sorry Mahanty, I told CSB that before you posted.)
2.) "Sachin may not have scored a match-winning hundred in Australia, but he has scored a TROPHY-WINNING DOUBLE CENTURY in Australia"...(a double century with zero cover drives)

CSB has it spot-on. Sehwag's innings at the MCG last year...all class
